New Year’s Resolutions. We make them and then forget all about them until January 1st rolls back around. I think one of the reasons that most (myself included) tend to give up on their resolutions so quickly is because we set unrealistic and un-fun goals for ourselves. This is why I’ve decided to post a series throughout the month of January highlighting my New Year’s resolutions covering beauty habits, healthy eating and exercise (hear me out! i.e. cute workout gear to help you sweat in style through your gym sesh).
Kicking off the first post of the series is my 2017 beauty resolution: wear more lipstick. Fun right?! I’ve never been much of a lipstick wearer and probably most of the reason is that when I’m wearing it (especially something bold and bright) I’m overly self-aware of the fact that I’m wearing it. I’m always worried whether I’ve smeared it or if it’s somehow gotten on my front teeth or the worst if I’ve pulled my grandma’s move and wiped off everything BUT the lip liner! Over the past few months I’ve been starting to make an effort to stock up my collection of lipsticks and I’ve found one in particular by Julep Beauty that I’m really loving – so much so I have it in three different colors. Keep reading below to find out what they are – we will be starting with the tamest and ending with the sassiest!
To get myself more comfortable and into the habit of wearing lipstick I bought a more neutral color to test out. This is Julep Beauty’s Light On Your Lips crème lipstick in the color “Primp.” This one has definitely become my go-to as it’s easy to put on in a rush but also give you a noticeable “I definitely tried today” kind of look :)
Up next is Julep’s lipstick in the color “Twirl.” This lipstick was my introduction to Julep’s brand of cosmetics. I actually received this in a swag bag at a blogger event earlier this year and when I first opened it I thought this color was way too pink for my tastes but once I put it on I was pleasantly surprised. It definitely has a fun, girly vibe to it without making me look like Barbie.
Up next is the boldest of them all – Julep’s “Lady in Red.” I love a classic red lip as much as the next girl but on myself I’ve always been hesitant. When I occasionally put on red lipstick it always takes my husband back a bit because he’s definitely not used to that look on me. I won’t be wearing a red lip to the office anytime soon but I’ve definitely become a fan of it – especially during the holiday season.
And there you have it! Those are my starting colors to help myself keep my beauty resolution of wearing more lipstick this year. I already have my eye on several other brands that I want to try out, so stay tuned throughout this year as I continue to find / explore other brand’s lipsticks. If you have not tried Julep’s lipstick collection I do highly recommend testing out yourself. They do a good job of creating a formula that doesn’t feel like it drys out your lips and it also gives a nice matte finish if that’s the look you’re going for.
Keep your eye out over the rest of this month to see what else is part of my 2017 New Year’s Resolutions. Have you made any resolutions this year that you’re actually looking forward to keeping? Let me know in the comments!
