If you’ve been following me on Instagram you might have seen that I recently bought a pair of Levi’s Icon Wedgie Jeans. If you haven’t heard of these, they are Levi’s take on the iconic 505 – a straight-cut, slim fitting jean from the 1960s, promising to look good on butts of all shapes and sizes (also brought to pop-culture mainstream last year when Kylie Jenner posted a photo in the denim). If you’ve been paying attention to your Instagram feed, you’ve probably realized that high-waisted denim has been making a pretty big comeback in women’s fashion – think of it as the mom jean 2.0.
I decided that I wanted to try out the high-waisted denim trend and expand out of my mid-rise, stretchy skinnys, so I opted for the Levi’s Icon Wedgie Jean fit as my first endeavor – also because I couldn’t resist a pair of pants with that name.
I bought mine for around $88 at Shopbop and bought them in a size 27. Luckily, Shopbop has free shipping and returns because when I received the pants they were too small and I could not get them buttoned! Keep in mind, these jeans are 100 percent cotton and have little to no stretch so all the stretchy size 27 jeans I’ve been squeezing myself into have definitely skewed my true size. I promptly put the jeans back in the mail and for some crazy reason went up two sizes to a 29. Long story short, I received the size 29 pants and they were too big! Finally, I ordered a size 28 which fit perfectly (why didn’t I just do that in the beginning?). Fingers crossed that I’m not put on Shopbop’s blacklist for the amount of returns that they’ve had to process from me.
I’m definitely loving my pair of Levi’s Icon Wedgie Jeans and I feel really good about my body when I’m wearing them. This fit hugs at all the right places and accentuates the smallest part of my waist. Also, I’ll never have to worry again about bending over and wondering if I’m showing my butt crack to anyone again… don’t judge, we’ve all been there! If you’re in the market for a flattering pair of high-waisted denim I strongly suggest you try a pair of these out.
