Turning 30 this year has made me take a step back and really assess my health from things like healthy eating and fitness to finally getting into a good skincare routine that hopefully will keep any early aging signs to a minimum.
One thing that I discovered and have incorporated into my daily skincare routine is the use of glycolic acid. I’d never heard of it before but it’s now something I’d not go a week without. In my opinion glycolic acid is the hero skincare ingredient EVERYONE needs in their life.
Glycolic acid is an exfoliant. It helps shed dead skin cells, encouraging newer and brighter layers of skin to show. Getting rid of those dead skin cells helps keep your pores clear and free of debris that ultimately can lead to acne. It also penetrates deep into your skin to boost increased collagen production for anti-aging assistance.
I first began using Cane and Austin’s Miracle Pad 20% glycolic acid peels back in March this year and after using them consistently for about seven months I’ve noticed a huge improvement in the clarity, texture and tone of my skin. I’ve experienced such an improvement that I haven’t worn foundation in several months!
Now don’t fear, it did not take seven months for me to see results. I noticed improved clarity and reduced acne within the first few weeks of using these. I’d been struggling with a decent amount of pimples that would pop up on a pretty regular basis. It usually wasn’t a lot at once but a few really bad ones that were pretty noticeable for someone who’s way past puberty. Since using these pads I’ve hardly had any really bad pimples even during my period, which usually always sent my skin out of whack.
There are plenty of skincare brands out there that offer glycolic acid treatments but with Cane and Austin, I’ve found one that works for me so I don’t feel the need to try out any others right now.
Their Miracle Pad range offers 10%, 20% and 30% glycolic acid treatment options. When I first decided to try out the product, I began with the 20% as I was nervous about skin sensitivities. There’s a slight tingle you’ll notice on your skin when you apply but its not a burning sensation and it goes away pretty quickly. I moved up to 30% when I reordered the product and haven’t experienced any issues with that either.
The label does say that this is safe to use both morning and night on a daily basis – but to work up to it over a week or so first. I’ve actually never done twice daily with it and I don’t think its necessary (it also makes your product last longer!). I’ve been using it almost every night after I cleanse my face and that has worked really well for me.
Is this a miracle product to get rid of acne? I’d say yes!
